The morning after Patroclus' funeral, I couldn't help myself in my mourning. However, my mother, Thetis, came to me with a gift, and brand new suit of armor. It was amazingly beautiful, I couldn't help but be in aw of it. My mother promised that she would look over Patroclus, and in doing so, I put on my new armor, got my father's spear, and marched out with the men, but I had to do one thing first. I realized that this feud between me and Agamemnon was going on for far too long, and I decided to end it. I went to Agamemnon and told him that my rage toward him has ended and that the whole fight was foolish. Agamemnon surprisingly agreed and stated that it was Zeus fault for the way he acted. In good faith Agamemnon still offered me all the gifts he initially offered me and I accepted. In return Agamemnon swore he never touched my girl Briseis. Now she is all for me. I couldn't wait to return to the battle, mostly to kill HECTOR, but Odysseus suggested that both Agamemnon and myself should feast together. We both agreed and we prepared and oath and a sacrifice. During the feast, Athena gave me a little extra strength, like I really need it.After the feast we buried our dead. After all was said and done, we all prepared for battle and marched out. From this point I new my fate was sealed. As soon as we were all lined up for battle, Zeus addressed the other Gods and said that they can now fight on whatever side that they want to since I am now back in the fight. We Greeks, got Hera, Poseidon Athena, and Hermes, whiles the Trojans got Ares, Apollo, Artemis, Leto, Xanthus, and Aphrodite. Really Aphrodite. You think you would learn your lesson by now. I was the one to begin the battle. I charged everywhere in my search for Hector. These Trojans were no match for me. Aeneas was too afraid to fight me, but Apollo encouraged him to fight me. What a fool. We both soon engage in combat, however it ends when Poseidon rescues Aeneas. Apparently he told Aeneas to cease his attack until I'm dead. Well I'm seeking death so it should be too long. At one point I came across the brother of Hector, Polydorus. He met his end rather quickly. This however end Hector's retreating and was now going to finally engage me in combat, But no!! Stupid Apollo had to intervene and take Hector away. This little setback wasn't going to stop me in finding Hector. I killed countless Trojans when i got the the River Xanthus. I've killed so many men that I have lost count. At one point, a Trojan by the name of Lycaon, grabbed a hold of me and asked me to spare him since he was only a half brother to Hector. My answer was simple, umm no. I don't give in that easily. Apparently this made the river God Xanthus angry, and he got Asteropaeous to attack me. He put out a good fight but it didn't matter he died anyways. Xanthus demanded that I stop killing in the river, and I was like fine. But that didn't stop me. I overheard him talking to Apollo and I charged toward Xanthus. And guess what happens, he starts throwing bodies at me. Really?? Who throws bodies?? That clearly didn't stop me but that stupid wave did. I was pretty lucky to grab a hold of a branch in time. I prayed to Zeus and he got Poseidon to give me extra courage to keep fighting. Also, Hera got Hephaestus to push back the river with his fire. After the incident in the river, the Gods soon resumed their battles. Ares and Athena clash. Ares got wounded, no surprise and Aphrodite helped him away from the battle, and then Athena charge the goddess of love. However some of the Gods didn't fight. Leto and Hermes didn't, and surprising Apollo didn't. He was running away. Apollo returned to Troy and insisted that Priam open the gates so that the rest of the Trojans can escape me. The only Trojan to stand their ground was Agenor. He almost hit my shin, but was unable to penetrate my armor. Soon Apollo yet again interferes and takes Agenor away to the river Xanthus. I swear I'm gonna get that Apollo.
I thought that my reconciliation with Agamemnon went rather well. I mean we exchanged peace offerings, that is a good step in the right direction. I knew right when I decided to re-enter the battle that my fate was now set in stone and that my death would be coming soon. And you know what that is fine with me, because then I can be with my beloved Patroclus. In fact, fate seemed to be a major theme throughout these books. Even Agamemnon stated that the fate from Zeus cause his stubbornness. He acknowledged that his madness was driven into him by force. No matter what happens now, fate will bring me to Hector, and he will surely die, and then hopefully soon, I will die afterwards, but the question remains, who will bring me to my death and how?
